Biography
Maren Robinson is a freelance dramaturg, actor and writer living in Chicago. As a dramaturg, she has over fifty productions to her credit including seventeen new plays or adaptations.

Maren holds a B.A. in English Literature from Montana State University where she toured with Montana Shakespeare in the Parks. She earned her M.A. in Humanities from the University of Chicago and received the Catherine Ham Memorial Award for her play, Anonymous, and companion thesis, which used Peter Brook and Virginia Woolf to examine gender, space and the creative process. An article based on some of her thesis material was published as part of the inaugural issue of The Center for Classic Theatre Review. At University of Chicago, she studied Renaissance theatre under David Bevington. She was an artistic intern at Steppenwolf Theatre Company under Ed Sobel. She has trained in the Critical Response Method with Liz Lerman.

Maren has worked with numerous Chicago theaters including: Court, Strawdog, Caffeine, Eclipse, Greasy Joan, Camenae, Lifeline where she is an ensemble member, and TimeLine where she is a Company Member and Resident Dramaturg with over fifty production credits. She was part of the Chicago Dancemaker's Forum Dance Dramaturgy workshop. Maren wrote about dramaturgy for the Chicago Artists Resource website artist profiles and has been profiled on the 2amtheatre blog. She has been part of panels or a panel presenter at the Chicago Theatre Symposium and the Chicago Theatre (un)Conference, Chicago Ideas Week and the Chicago Humanities Festival and at LMDA.

She is an instructor the Theatre School at DePaul and also serves as the Associate Director of the Master of Arts Program in Humanities at the University of Chicago. She designed and taught a course at the Newberry Library on Small Theaters in Chicago and has lectured on the history of women and theater at the Chicago Public Library. She has also taught Chicago public school students as a teaching artist for TimeLine Theatre’s Living History educational outreach program.

She is an LMDA VP for the Chicago Metro Region.
