Marinik
Focus: "This is going to be a busy week: we are choosing our line-up of plays for Planet Connections Theatre Festivity's 2012 season, and I am expecting a fight for some of the scripts I'm excited about. We'll see how the literary manager stacks up against a team of artistic directors. I also just started my spring semester at Brooklyn College which includes a theatre theory class and my first TA experience. And we start rehearsals this week for Nicky Silver's The Altruists, directed by MFA Directing candidate Josh Penzell - I am the dramaturg. Also also, I am knee deep in thesis land, so I'm trying to write a coherent and meaningful argument about metatheatre and contemporary musicals."

Questions from LMDA:
What is your definition of dramaturgy?
"Dramaturgy is story design. In theatre you have a collaboration of designers who facilitate various components of the piece. For me, the dramaturg is the designer who makes sure all elements are in agreement with the story being told. The dramaturg creates the coherency between characters, time, place and action, that makes the viewing experience seamless for an audience."
What is your dream project?
To dramaturg a new musical with a challenging story and a socially-relevant message, with a first-rate creative team and lots of ambition.
