We are looking for a dynamic and visionary theater-maker to join our growing community, as we work to reimagine the experiment that is the new American Theater.The OverviewThe Director of Artistic Partnerships & Innovation will oversee all new work development for Long Wharf Theatre. The Director will generate new projects while activating synergistic partnerships through commissions, residencies, readings, and new play workshops. The Director will also serve as resident dramaturg.The Director will oversee The Lab at Long Wharf Theatre – three distinct but interconnected labs for new work development, ancillary programming, and community partnerships. The Director will develop pathways to other artistic mediums in the creation of new work – namely in film, television and music. The Director will also discover, and then support, artists working outside the typical theater network while creating more intersectional space between directors, actors, designers, creative producers and playwrights in piloting new projects for the stage.Through an unprecedented partnership with Baltimore Center Stage, the Director will reimagine new work development. Working in close collaboration with their counterpart at Center Stage, the Director will be charged with building new collaborative models that allow both institutions to harness collective resource sharing and dismantle the structures that have historically limited many artists from being produced at our most visible theaters. The Director will have an insatiable appetite to defy the status quo, grounded in the values of anti-racism and anti-oppression. They will lead with joy, rigor, and curiosity.Reporting to, and working closely with, newly appointed Artistic Director, Jacob Padrón, The Director of Artistic Partnerships & Innovation will be a key member of the senior leadership team at Long Wharf. In addition, the Director will work hand in hand with the Artistic Producer, the lead producer on staff, to manifest many projects to fruition.  The Key Duties+ Lead and facilitate the artistic development of all new work development, while being nimbly responsive to the needs of each theater-maker within the organization.+ Oversee the Community Partnership department, in collaboration with the Artistic Producer, and ensure these partnerships and this work are fully integrated into the operations of the organization.+ In partnership Artistic Director, lead the season planning process.+ Develop, launch, and lead a three-tiered Lab for the development of new experiments that serve Long Wharf’s vision of building a body of work that moves us towards a boundary-breaking future.+ Produce and facilitate all performance-adjacent and civic programming (i.e., symposiums, talkbacks, artistic conversations).+ Scout for new talent while developing, launching and maintaining relationships with artists and other cultural leaders across the country.+ Read and track all scripts; create processes for logging and covering projects and serve as the primary point of contact for all literary agencies.+ Generate and drive new projects forward, always with an eye towards production while centering the values of inclusion and artistic innovation.+ Serve as production dramaturg on select projects.+ Work across departments to generate content for grant applications, playbills, and digital platforms.+ In partnership with Baltimore Center Stage, work to reimagine how we support new work development by challenging the assumptions we make, the questions we ask, the processes we follow, and what constitutes “the well-made play.” In addition, work to maximize resources across both institutions – such as coverage of new play festivals, readings, and productions.  The Skills Needed+ Proven leadership experience at a producing organization OR equivalent employment in the curation and development of new work.+ A commitment to, and understanding of, anti-racism and anti-oppression practices.+ A commitment to life-long learning, with a healthy disregard for the status quo and a relentless curiosity.+ A commitment to collaborative leadership with a robust understanding of organizational culture and change management. The SalarySalary range is $60 - 65k, plus benefits. The TimelinePosition is available immediately.
