The LIterary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas is pleased to announce that they will be partnering with the National New Play Network (NNPN) on the New Play Exchange.  The New Play Exchange is being funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, and the partnership will include Chicago Dramatists, New Dramatists, the Playwrights’ Center, and the Playwrights’ Foundation.

Here is the release from NNPN with additional information about the project:

America-In-Play is excited to be joined by Elizabeth Bojsza on their upcoming endeavour – The Recovery Project.  Due to neglect and disregard, an extraordinary number of original American drama and performance fashioned between the American Revolution and World War I has disappeared.  Inspired by this loss and America-In-Play’s development of a process for generating new American plays from old ones, Artistic Director Lynn M. Thomson conceived the Recovery Project.  Through the LMDA Residency grant program, Elizabeth Bojsza is now employed as Lead Dramaturg on this project, which will commission two plays from theatre artists - one as a imagining of what a lost original might be and a second play, as a modern text, inspired by that original.

Announcing the Fall 2012 Dramaturg Driven Grant

The Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA) is pleased to announce that Nora Long is the recipient of the Fall 2012 Dramaturg Driven Grant.

Nora will attend the international Napoli Theatre Festival in Naples, Italy in June 2013, in order to connect contemporary Italian performance to the Italian and Italian-American community's traditional Saints’ Feasts in Boston’s North End by creating a performance piece inspired by the Festival. This project is a means of further development for Nora as an artist by broadening her access to Italian artists for translations and future exchange possibilities, enhancing her value in the North End community as a cultural contributor, and strengthening her language skills. Nora’s neighborhood is deeply committed to its cultural connection to Italy, and this project allows her to share her work with the community.

Have a theatre company you want to work with?  Know of a project that needs a dramaturg?  Finding that peope have few dramaturgical resources?  Then apply for a Residency Grant!
