The Literary Managers and Dramatrugs of the Americas is pleased to announce the recipients of the 7th Annual Early Career Dramaturg Conference Travel Grant.  Winners were selected by a committee made up of LMDA board members, including Janine Sobeck, Beth Blickers, Debra Cardona, LaRonika Thomas and Stephen Colella.

LMDA Receives NEA Art Works Grant 

The Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas Receives NEA Art Works Grant to Support Annual Conference

Grant part of NEA announcement of 788 Art Works grants and

$24.81 million in funding nationwide

[New York, NY]— National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced April 25, 2012 that the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA) is one of 788 not-for-profit national, regional, state, and local organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. LMDA is recommended for a $10,000 grant to support their annual conference, held this year in Atlanta, GA. The 788 Art Works grants total $24.81 million and support the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts, and the strengthening of communities through the arts.

LMDA is proud to offer travel grants to Early Career Dramaturgs for the annual summer conference. LMDA will make cash awards up to $500 towards conference travel and housing. For more information about how to apply, go HERE.

Applications are due by Friday May 11.

The Dramaturgy Focus Group for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) sponsors a competitive DEBUT PANEL to showcase outstanding and innovative work by emerging dramaturgs in educational and professional theatre. If you are a graduate student, intern, or new professional dramaturg and have provided dramaturgy for a production or event during the past three years, you are eligible to apply. This panel is adjudicated by both academic and professional theatre dramaturgs in the Americas.

The deadline for 2012 is April 10.  Submission guidelines can be found HERE

Nominations Open for Elliott Hayes Award 

The LMDA Prize in Dramaturgy recognizes excellence in dramaturgical work on a specific project. The deadline for nominations is April 1, 2012. Named in honor of Elliott Hayes, the former dramaturg and literary manager at The Stratford Festival, the prize is awarded in recognition of contributions by dramaturgs to the conception, development and production of theatre or to educational projects in dramaturgy.
