LMDA Twitter Project

Jan 16-22: Laurel Green

Focus: "In between tweets, I will be working as the production dramaturg for Ash Rizin, a hip-hop musical by Michael P. Northey and Kyprios premiering at the 26thAnnual Enbridge playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays at Alberta Theatre Projects. When not at rap camp, I’ll continue to curate and produce Raucous Caucus Emerging Artists Assembly, a national gathering of early career theatre artists during the Festival including panels, guest artists, hands-on sessions and networking events. This week I’ll also be seeing shows at One Yellow Rabbit’s infamous High Performance Rodeo, helping with ATP’s playRites Salon event, and tending to the script pile on my desk."

Jan 9-Jan 15: David G Schultz

Focus:  “Tweeting from Asia, the week will encompass when we go to production on the show we are writing with the kids, and our site visit to a village in West Bengal. You should be getting photos and insights from the field, and conversations about the work we are doing.”

The LMDA Twitter Project returns on Monday January 2, 2012.  Our guest tweeter will be Martha Steketee, who will be sharing her experiences at the Dramatists Guild “solo writer/actor” event and the Young Playwrights National Playwriting Competition Conference.  To learn more about Martha and/or the LMDA Twitter Project, click HERE.

The LMDA Twitter Project will be taking a 2 week holiday break.  We will return on January 2, 2012 with Martha Wade Steketee from Young Playwrights Writer's Conference.  We wish everyone a happy holiday season!

Dec 12 – Dec 19: Becky Goldberg

Focus: “It's my last two weeks of graduate school! Follow me through finals week, holiday parties, last minute performances, and lots of grading.”

Dec 5 – Dec 11: Elizabeth Pool

Focus: “This week I begin rehearsals on Kenneth Lin’s new play, Fallow, a play which explores a mother’s quest to understand her son’s murder. We will have the playwright in the room with us for much of the week as we read through the script and begin table work. The focus of my tweets will be week one of the new play rehearsal process.”

Nov 28 - Dec 3: Jules Odendahl-James

Focus: "This week I plan to ruminate on two dramaturgical projects completed this semester (Self-Defense and Doll's House), two projects entering the beginning phases (Me Too Monologues and Ragtime: the musical), any other dramaturgy related tidbits that show up during the week's arts news, pose a few digiturgy and production blog queries, and was hoping to delve into a general discussion about the position of "resident dramaturgs" at university theaters (how close/far are/can/should be such positions from their "professional" counterparts in the non-academic theater world.)"

This week we return to the USA with Jules Odendahl-James, Visiting Lecturer and Resident Dramaturg at Duke University. Jules will take us behind the scenes - and discuss the role - of the "resident dramaturg" at university theatres, as well as give a sneak peak into some current projects.  For more information on Jules, click HERE.

Nov 21-Nov 28: Robyn Quick

Focus: "I’m spending the fall in Russia as a Fulbright Senior Scholar, teaching dramaturgy and American drama at the Russian State University for the Humanities (with a seminar on Hamlet thrown in for good measure). The US plays we’re studying have been translated into Russian as a part of the New American Plays for Russia initiative. (Click HERE for more information). I’m also directing a reading of Yury Klavdiev’s Russian adaptation of The Book of Grace by Suzan-Lori Parks. My posts this week will focus on my experiences here as a dramaturg, teacher, and cultural explorer."
