Theatre Archives case study: Roundabout Theatre

Have you ever been asked to document a production? Has it fallen to you to keep a history of the theatre’s productions, or the history of the theatre itself?

Lessing Week, NYC Jan 22

Hello and Happy 2013!

To celebrate the start of the year and the Lessing Week, LMDA NYC will be hosting a get together on Tuesday, January 22nd from 5:30-7:30pm at the New Amsterdam Theatre (214 W. 42nd Street).

Each year, every LMDA community uses Lessing Week to raise funds to enable as many early career dramaturgs (or ECDs) as possible to join us at the LMDA Conference (to be held in gorgeous Vancouver, BC in June). This year, we’d also like to use it as an opportunity to energize the next generation of dramaturgs in the New York community.  As such, we’re going to use Tuesday’s gathering to exchange ideas and advice around the future of dramaturgy and we are soliciting thoughts from everyone about what that future may hold.

The Art of Feedback, Oct. 26 @ HERE Arts Center

Every day, we're giving, getting, tabling, and otherwise navigating feedback. But how well?  With what casualties?  To what yelps of joyous breakthrough? In the hottest town hall event of the fall season you are invited to join fellow dramaturgs, literary managers, playwrights, directors and others with a zeal for creating work in open and collaborative environments. We will be admitting and addressing that with collaboration comes a range of differing perspectives, potential pitfalls and the possibility of vibrant, passionate, mind expanding art.

Bring your stories of what has worked brilliantly in the past and where you fell on your face. We’ll make the space for the burning questions you’ve never asked, the beefs you need to get off your chest and some brilliant soliloquizing about what everyone in the American theater should be doing better.

Bring your opinions; we’ll provide the soapbox.

Oct 26, from 2:30-5 p.m. at HERE Arts Center (145 6th Avenue at Spring Street)
Feel free to drop in for a bit or be there the whole time.
