A Greeting from LMDA President Vicki Stroich

It is an honour to accept the role of President of LMDA at this time.  I love my job.  I am proud to share something with the over 600 members of LMDA – we have all decided to embrace a position that witnesses, that searches, that questions and that champions.  We have chosen to be stewards of our theatres, of our culture. 

I refer to stewardship with great purpose, because I believe that dramaturgs indeed are responsible, with our peers, to ensure the future of our theatres and our cultures.  As dramaturgs we are uniquely positioned as observers, as synthesizers and champions of ideas, as idea generators ourselves, as facilitators of discussion and as passionate inquirers to contribute to the future of the art forms we love.  Especially when that future appears to be unclear and unstable.

LMDA Canada SummerWorks Happy Hour

LMDA Canada SummerWorks Happy Hour!

When: Wednesday August 10 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Where: Shanghai Cowgirl (538 Queen Street W)

What: An informal opportunity to network, catch up, talk about shows and learn more about what is new with LMDA over a beer or a milkshake.

If you will be in Toronto on Aug 10 come along whether you are an LMDA member or not (but, really, what are you waiting for: join today.)  And if you know someone who might enjoy this gathering or might want to know more about LMDA, bring them along.
