What is Dramaturgy? Some Answers From Our Members:
“My definition of dramaturgy shifts slightly every time I articulate it. To me, the heart of dramaturgy is communication--and that starts with the cocktail party definition of what we do. Sometimes I speak of dramaturgy in terms of advocacy (for the playwright, for the play, for the director, for the actors, for the audience), and sometimes I speak of dramaturgy in terms of "sense-making" (structural, cognitive, spatial, intuitive).”

Past projects at YPT: Co-adapter of Love You Forever…And More Munsch (Dora Award, Outstanding TYA Production/Canada Council Theatre for Young Audiences Prize), Dramaturgy for The Princess & the Handmaiden, Hana’s Suitcase, i think i can (Dora Award, Outstanding New Musical), El Numero Uno, Jack and the Giant Beanstalk, Beyond the Cuckoo's Nest, Would You Say The Name of This Play? and Touch the Sky. Other projects include: Dramaturgy for Three Fingered Jack, The Intruder and La Danza Del Venado and Festival Dramaturg for the 2008-2012 De Colores Festivals (Alameda Theatre); Dramaturg for Dangling at 6th and 7th Potluck Festival (fu-GEN Theatre); Dramaturg for the 2004 & 2005 Paprika Festival. He is a graduate of the Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) Dramaturgy program at the University of Glasgow and current Vice President of Grants & Awards for LMDA.
