Biography:

Haritha Popuri is an early career dramaturg and arts researcher. She completed a B.A. in Religious Studies and the History of Science at the University of King’s College, afterwards pursuing an M.A. in Theatre and Performance Studies at York University. During her year in Toronto, she interned for the 37th Rhubarb Festival, Obsidian Theatre Company, and performed in the 2016 Toronto Fringe Festival. Since graduation, she has worked with the Sudbury Theatre Company and Pat the Dog Theatre Creation. She is one of the new regional editors of Canadian content for The Theatre Times. She has an abiding love of Jewish ceremony and Old Testament humour, which she dreams of channeling into a side-career in Yiddish dramaturgy—or a musical about that man of the slapstick messianic hour, Sabbatai Zevi.
