What is Dramaturgy? Some Answers From Our Members:
"I define the art/science of dramaturgy as the life-blood of live theatre, whether there is an identifiable “dramaturg” on board or not. Dramaturgs ask questions of the script/project and provide feedback to the production team—both of these activities sustain and generatively challenge the production. I like the notion of a dramaturg as an audacious co-creator as explored in D.J. Hopkins’ “Research, Counter-text, Performance” (Theatre Topics 13.1, pp. 4-5)."
