Biography
CAROLYN ZAPF (she/her) is a playwright, dramaturg, and publishing professional in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She is currently editing several non-fiction books for the University of Toronto Press, and has just completed editing an epic poetry trilogy, On the River of Time by Carl Hare (former head of theatre at University of Alberta), which is now published.
  She served as co-artistic director/producer and dramaturg of Alumnae Theatre’s New Ideas Festival (a juried new play festival in Toronto) from 2011 to 2018. She is presently a dramaturg for the FireWorks Festival in Toronto, as well as a freelance dramaturg working with various individual Canadian playwrights.
  As a playwright, she has written commissioned works for theatres across Canada, including the Vancouver Playhouse (theatre-in-education projects), Young People’s Theatre in Toronto, and Montreal’s Saidye Bronfman Centre (now the Segal Centre). She was the first playwright-in-residence for the National Theatre School of Canada (English section), for whom she wrote a play that was developed with the second-year class and produced by the same class during their third year.
  She is a member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada (PGC) and the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA).
