Biography
Dr. Natalie McCabe is from the Greater Philadelphia Area. She received her BA in Theatre and Minor in International Arts from Pennsylvania State University's Schreyer Honors College in 2007, during which time she studied abroad through IES in Ireland and began her pursuit of Irish theatre studies. After her time at Penn State, she worked as a storyteller and first-person interpreter for Historic Philadelphia, Inc. as well as a standardized patient for the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University and other performance- and teaching-based work until 2011, during which she also spent approximately 9 months in Toronto, Ontario. She received her MA in Theatre History, Criticism, & Dramaturgy from Catholic University of America in 2013, after being the first MA Theatre student to receive an assistantship outside the department. During this time she assisted dramaturg Drew Lichtenberg at the Shakespeare Theatre Company on "Coriolanus" and Robert Pinsky's "Wallenstein" and worked as a theatre critic and column writer for DC Metro Theater Arts. She received her PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies with a Graduate Minor in Medieval and Renaissance Studies from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2018, during which time she had her two children and became actively involved in promoting parents in the performing arts. She served a one-year term as Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre History and Dramatic Literature at the University of Central Florida from 2018 - 2019. After this, she taught Theatre and English courses and assisted in course development for Valencia College in Central Florida while receiving her Digital Professor Certificate. She has worked as Editorial Assistant for Performance Studies international's journal "Global Performance Studies" since 2017. She currently resides in Lawton, OK with her children and spouse as Assistant Professor of Theatre for Cameron University.
