Biography
Deborah is an award-winning writer and dramaturg that works on projects across the UK, the USA, and Canada.

Most recently, she was commissioned to write an original musical about mental health and teens intended for Broadway 2024. She also wrote Little Sausage: A Verbatim Musical (The Other Palace) and was commissioned to write an original pilot for UKTV. Her one-woman show BIG Sister won the Cultchivating the Fringe Award and was nominated for Outstanding Original Script at the 2020 Jessie Richardson Awards. Additional past musical theatre commissions include Sylvia’s Hotel (Kol Halev Performance Ensemble), Carry On (Awkward Stage Productions), and Finding Face Time (Touchstone Theatre). She is currently developing a musical TV pilot.

As a dramaturg, Deborah specialises in new musical theatre and stand-up comedy. She has performed dramaturgy on over fifty projects and co-founded Chalk Musical Theatre Dramaturgy, a script consultancy service specifically for new musicals. Past production dramaturgy credits include Dark Sisters (Vancouver Opera), Sweeney Todd (Vancouver Opera) and Saint Joan (Arts Club Theatre Company). She has a BFA in Creative Writing from UBC and a Masters in Dramaturgy and Writing for Performance from Goldsmiths, University of London.

Deborah is from Vancouver, BC, a city that gave her a deep love of the ocean and unrealistic expectations about the affordability of sushi. When she’s not writing, she’s eating cheap vegan food, drinking expensive coffee, or walking by the nearest body of water.
