LMDA Seeks Grant Coordinator

Background and Current Environment

LMDA is largely a volunteer-based organization, with committee and board members working in collaboration to ideate new programming and initiatives.

The Grants Coordinator position was implemented in 2018, with the intention that the person serving in this role would help develop cohesive, clear, and comprehensive grant applications to support LMDA’s major programs. Previous grants secured include the National Endowment for the Arts ArtsWork grant, and funds from the Dreyfuss Foundation, among others.

Lessing Week 2022 is just around the corner!

Lessing Week 2022 will be Saturday, January 22-Saturday, January 29, 2022. Our goal is to raise $2,000 to be used for ECD travel grants! On January 22, 2022, Gotthold Ephraim Lessing – the world’s first dramaturg -- would have turned 293! Every year, to celebrate his birthday, LMDA holds a fundraiser to fund our annual Early Career Dramaturg travel grants.

Save the Date: March 28, 2022

On March 28 at 5:30pm in Center City, Philadelphia we will hold a Community Happy Hour & Conference Q&A Session. It is free and open to everyone. We will have free beer from Yards Brewery and free snacks from LMDA. You will have a chance to reconnect with old friends and colleagues, meet new ones, and ask any questions you might have about the summer conference. We cannot wait to see you in-person again! More details will be released on the ListServ closer to the date.

Dramaturging the Phoenix Program EXTENDED!

Our Dramaturging the Phoenix Forum (the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at five pm ET on Zoom) has been extended as an essential community check-in as we face the challenges of past, present, and future together. The extension will allow us to feature a diverse rotation of essays and related projects for deeper discussion. Those unable to attend the Forums will be able to access a video archive of the Zoom sessions on the website.

Conference Scholarships Update

We are thrilled to announce that we will be able to offer a wide-range of scholarships for our summer 2002 Conference. The scholarships will include Early Career Travel Grants, Free United Airline Tickets, Scholarships to Cover Registration Fees, and more. Everyone may apply for scholarship but LMDA Member applications will be prioritized. Scholarship applications will be available in February on this site.
