Our conference hotel is the Marrakech Hotel, and they are holding a block of rooms under LMDA. It’s less than a ten-minute walk from the conference site. Rooms are running about $200 a night, including those with two beds. There is a flight of stairs leading to the lobby.

Urban Dramaturgy

LMDA is pleased to partner with The Segal Theatre, The Graduate Center CUNY to present an evening of "Urban Dramaturgy.

Urban dramaturgy plays with the structure, rhythm, and flow of the city to enact new stories of what our cities are and for whom. There are a myriad of artists, housed by cultural institutions and art venues, taking up urban space and showcasing new and exciting approaches to framing the city.

Bridging the Playwright/Dramaturg Divide

On February 9, 2015, the Dramatists Guild Utah-Idaho Region and the Rockies Region of LMDA gathered at the University of Utah’s Babcock Theatre to “discuss similar and differing points of view on our shared world of theatre.” On the Dramatists Guild (DG) side, Julie Jensen, helped organize and recruit people from DG to come to the event, on the LMDA side, I helped organize and recruit people to attend.

Call for LMDA Hot Topics Submission

The University Caucus of Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas will once again sponsor a Hot Topics session at the next annual conference in New York City on Thursday, June 25, 2015, from 3 to 5pm. Hot Topics invites all LMDA members (not academics only) to present, in 5 minutes, an idea or project that passionately engages you right now.

We’re fierce about the time limit to make room for everyone, so your presentation will require a good deal of careful preparation. You want to introduce the topic so that anyone interested can join you in conversation.
