Job Title: free-lance dramaturg, playwright
Organization affiliation:

various: Book-It, Seattle Shakespeare and many others

Location: Seattle, WA
Education:

BA: Amerian University

Biography:

Lenore Bensinger has dramaturged throughout the greater
Seattle area (even Tacoma and Olympia) for the last
two-plus decades at almost every theater--big and little, in the greater Seattle area. Easily more than a hundred shows, workshops, readings. At the Empty Space,
she was literary manager and Artistic Associate; similarly, at The Group Theater. She lead the Seattle Playwrights' Alliance for 4 years, during which time August Wilson, Robert Schennken, Stephen Dietz, Bill Mastrosimone and increasingly women, were members. In recent years, she has dramaturged new musicals for Balagan Theater. Lenore has also written and seen produced a dozen plays under her name.

Areas of Expertise:

I particularly like new play work with a special emphssis
on structure. Working with playwrights and bridging the
ties between playwright and director is a source of pride. I am acutely interested in theater which brings
together "science" and drama. Lately, I've been increasing drawn to adding music to that menu. Lately, I've been called upon to assist dramaturgically with
New World Latin plays.

Language(s) spoken:

some French

Recent Work:

Most recently, I worked with Book-It on new adaptations
of FRANKENSTEIN and KAVALIER and CLAY (nominated for
a Falls Award). In early winter, I "turged" a visual art-driven production of MARISOL. Next up: working on
developing MEANWHILE, an astrophysics play for youth (15+) and creating a new play in the works with the University of Washington Medical School (bio research).
